Publishing and failures

Stop all publishing

The emergency stop halts publishing for the whole workspace at once; an Owner or an Admin can use it from Settings, and lifting it is one button.

  1. Open Settings, then Emergency stop (the account menu has an entry too).
  2. In Stop all publishing, choose Stop publishing.
  3. Read "Stop publishing for everyone in this workspace?" and confirm with Stop publishing.
  4. To resume, press Lift on the banner or Lift the stop in the same Settings section.

What it does and does not do

It takes effect immediately for every channel and every member. Nothing is deleted and nothing is rescheduled; posts wait exactly where they are until you lift the stop. A post that is already being sent will finish. The settings page tells you how many scheduled posts would be held before you confirm.

While it is on, every screen shows a banner: who stopped publishing, when, and that nothing scheduled will go out until it is lifted. New posts you schedule are saved as held and wait too.

Posts that missed their time are not sent late

A post whose time passes while publishing is stopped is not published late. After you lift the stop, a page called Posts that missed their time lets you choose Publish now or Reschedule for an hour from now.

After you lift it

Publishing resumes. The confirmation tells you if any posts passed their time in the meantime and are waiting for your choice. The author of each such post is notified that their post was held by a publishing stop and was not published, with a link to the post. Both the stop and the lift are written to the audit log with who did it.

If it did not work

If you cannot find Emergency stop in Settings, your role does not include it: it is for Owners and Admins. If you stopped publishing and a post still went out, check whether it was already being sent at the moment you confirmed. If posts are still held after you lifted the stop, open one to see its status; a different reason may apply, such as waiting for review.
