Cookie policy
Every cookie NioConnect sets and everything it keeps in your browser: what each is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your choice.

1. About this policy
This policy lists every cookie NioConnect sets and everything it keeps in your browser, what each one is for, and how long it lasts. It covers the NioConnect website and the application you sign in to. The privacy policy covers everything else we do with your information.
2. What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browser storage (local storage and session storage) works in a similar way, but it stays on your device and is never sent to us automatically.
We sort both into two groups. Necessary items are needed for NioConnect to work at all, such as keeping you signed in, so they are always on. Functional items only make the app more convenient, such as remembering your theme, and we use them only if you allow it.
3. Cookies we set
NioConnect sets four cookies, all of them necessary. In production they are only sent over an encrypted connection.
nioconnect_sessionKeeps you signed in. It holds a random token and nothing about you, and scripts in the page cannot read it. It lasts 14 days from sign-in, stops working sooner if you do not use NioConnect for 3 days, and is removed when you sign out.nioconnect_google_stateSet only when you sign in with Google. It proves that Google’s reply belongs to the sign-in you started, so nobody can force a sign-in on your browser. Scripts in the page cannot read it. It lasts up to 10 minutes and is removed when you return from Google.nioconnect_github_stateThe same protection when you sign in with GitHub. Scripts in the page cannot read it. It lasts up to 10 minutes and is removed when you return from GitHub.nioconnect_consentYour answer to the cookie banner and when you gave it, so we do not ask on every page. It is shared by our website and the app, so one answer covers both, and the banner reads it, so it is readable in the page. It holds no information about you and lasts 12 months, after which we ask again.
4. What we keep in your browser
Necessary
- Short-lived notes for something you have started in one tab: connecting a social account and coming back from that platform, confirming your email address, opening a connection link someone sent you, the workspace logo while you switch workspaces, and a notice you closed. These are kept in session storage and disappear when you close the tab.
Functional (only with your permission)
nio-themeWhether you chose the light or dark theme. Without permission, the theme you pick still applies while you are on the page but is not remembered next time.- The customer filter and the channel group filter you last used in each workspace, so the app opens the way you left it.
- A note that this browser was signed in, so that when a session ends on its own we can tell you it expired rather than simply showing the sign-in page.
If you turn functional storage off, we delete all of these from your browser straight away.
5. What we do not use
NioConnect does not use analytics, advertising, marketing or social media tracking cookies, and does not run a chat widget. Nothing we store is used to follow you across other websites or to build an advertising profile.
If we ever add a tool like that, we will update this policy first, and the tool will only run for people who switch it on in the cookie banner. Because your earlier answer could not have covered it, the banner will ask you again.
6. Services run by other companies
A few steps take you to, or briefly load, a service run by another company. Those services may set their own cookies under their own policies, which we do not control:
- Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells people apart from automated attempts. It loads on sign-up, password reset and the page for a connection link someone sent you, and on sign-in only after repeated failed attempts. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Google and GitHub, when you choose to sign in with them. That step happens on their own sites.
- Dodo Payments, our payment provider, when you pay for a plan or manage billing. Checkout happens on their site.
- Social platforms, when you connect an account. You approve access on that platform’s own site, under its own policy.
7. Your choices
You can change your answer at any time. Your new choice applies straight away, and turning functional storage off deletes what it had remembered.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the necessary ones, you will not be able to stay signed in to NioConnect.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change what we store, we update this page and the date at the top. If the change adds a new kind of optional storage, we ask for your permission again before using it.
