Connect Instagram
Instagram needs a professional account (Business or Creator), and NioConnect asks which login you use before it sends you to Meta.
Last updated- Make sure the account is professional. In Instagram, open Settings, then Account type and tools, then Switch to professional account.
- In NioConnect, open Channels, choose Add a channel, then Instagram.
- Answer How do you sign in to this account? with Directly with Instagram or Through Facebook.
- Approve on Meta's own screen, then pick the Instagram account from the list.
Which login to choose
Meta offers two ways to authorize the same account, and they request different permissions. The permissions are fixed into the consent screen, so the choice has to be made before you leave NioConnect.
| Option | Choose it when | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Directly with Instagram | Your professional account has no linked Facebook Page | You sign in on Instagram's own screen and connect that one account |
| Through Facebook | Your professional account is linked to a Facebook Page | You sign in with Facebook and can pick any Instagram account behind the Pages you administer |
If you are unsure and a Page exists, try Through Facebook first. Choosing the direct route gives you a list of exactly one account, which is expected.
Good to know
Instagram processes media on its side before a post goes live, so NioConnect waits for that to finish and reports a post as published only when Instagram says it is. Instagram allows 25 posts per rolling 24 hours per account; that cap is Meta's, not ours. NioConnect posts to the feed; Stories are not covered.
If it did not work
If connecting succeeds and then says the account has no linked Page, you chose Through Facebook for an account that is not linked to a Page you administer. Link it in Instagram under Settings, Sharing to other apps, Facebook, or reconnect with Directly with Instagram.
If the account is missing from the picker, it is personal rather than professional, or it sits behind a Page you do not administer. If you picked the wrong login, the choice is fixed at connect time: connect again and choose the other. Nothing is lost.
