A payment failed
When a renewal payment fails you keep publishing for a 7 day grace period, and an Owner can settle it from Billing & Plan with Update payment method.
Last updated- Look for the billing banner. It says how long publishing continues, and until what date.
- The Owner opens Settings, then Billing & Plan.
- Under "A renewal payment did not go through.", choose Update payment method.
- Settle the outstanding payment on the payment provider's page.
What the grace period means
You are told by notification and on every screen: "A renewal payment for this Org did not go through. Publishing continues until" the date. During the 7 days your plan is unchanged and posts go out. Some declines clear on their own and some never do: a card that has expired, been replaced or been cancelled may never be charged again, so waiting does not always work.
If it is not settled in time, publishing pauses. Posts fail with the reason "a payment failed and the Org's grace period has ended", and the composer says "Publishing is paused: a payment failed and the grace period has ended. Publishing resumes once an Owner has the subscription active again."
Getting back to normal
Once the payment settles, you are told "This Org is active again." with whether publishing was ever interrupted, and publishing resumes. Posts that failed because publishing was paused can then be retried.
Update payment method opens the provider's page where the outstanding payment can be settled. The billing portal replaces a card but does not charge what is owed, so it is the wrong tool when a renewal has failed.
If it did not work
Only the Owner has the button; anyone else sees the banner and should ask the Owner. If the page says "Too many attempts just now", wait a few minutes. If the redirect is blocked, try again or open the page in another browser. If the plan does not recover, the page tells you what the provider says. See Why a post failed for retrying afterwards, or contact us.
